Nugu Eco Resort

Nugu is designed and planned as a boutique eco-resort. The site is nestled between reserve forests , and the Kabini reservoir . Water from the Nugu Dam seasonally floods 30% of the site. Traditionally farm land, the concept of the resort is to be disconnect from the city and connect with nature. The design of the master plan aims to create maximum open space between the units, and meandering walks between the rooms and the functional spaces of the resort. The Master Plan also uses the contour of the site, to create unobstructed private views of the water from each room.

The units are a combination of two or three rooms. The construction aims to use maximum resources and materials from the site and those locally available. The Plinths are built of stone masonry – stones from the site. The main walls are rammed earth – earth from the site. The roof is constructed of county tiles supported on locally sourced jungle/ coconut rafters. Keeping the impact of the construction as minimal as possible. While the resort disappears into the landscape.
