Flyover
‘The surreal is but the reality that has not been disconnected from its mystery’ is a quote by Rene Magritte that perfectly defines the experience at Flyover. Taking the cue from the name ‘Flyover’ the story of the space is stitched together by amalgamating the real and the imagined; the real being the views of the flyover leading to the airport and the lake, while the imagined being the surrealistic artworks and objects suspended within the huge volume of the space.
Architecturally the space extends itself beyond its physical boundary by treating the building as a part of the views around. Elements like the suspended plane, the floating DJ console, using the sky as their backdrop, help one experience the scale without getting lost in the volume. The surrealist artworks of the flying fish, turtles, etc. introduce subtle abnormalities within the journey, elevating one’s uncanny experience through this space – where everything relates, and yet does not.
